We help communities of faith like yours—whether church, camp, or nonprofit—effectively fill your need for a youth or children’s minister to meet the needs of our ever-changing culture.
Our Graduate Residency in Youth Ministry is a comprehensive program that equips communities of faith to develop innovative, effective, and theologically informed ministries. A Partner Ministry is a community of faith where a CYMT graduate resident serves for 3 years as a youth minister. CYMT staff support each Partner Ministry and Graduate Resident pair through one-on-one coaching.
Finding a good youth minister is difficult. Going with CYMT can save you time and money while allowing you to strengthen your ministry’s foundation for the future. CYMT admissions team recruits a national pool of applicants. Residents who are admitted to the program are vetted through four phases in our application process. Our team prayerfully considers our applicants and your ministry’s needs to find a good fit. Then, we equip them and you for effective ministry.
Already have a good youth or children’s minister, but want to get them the education, training, and support they need to stay in ministry for the long haul; then, sign them up for our Professional Education. They will receive all the benefits of our Graduate Residency – master’s level education, coaching, and a supportive community – to further develop their gifts and skills for ministry. We equip them and your ministry team for effective ministry.
Coaching
Not only does CYMT provide mentoring and coaching for your resident, we provide your ministry with a veteran ministry coach. This coach will help you develop a fertile environment for growth. You will build a foundation and infrastructure for ministry such as vision and mission statements, goals, curriculum & a discipleship plan, long-term calendars, and volunteer training and recruiting.
Note: Partner Ministry acceptance is always conditional on finding a good match for your ministry in the placement process.
1. Request more information to talk with one of our staff about how CYMT can help your ministry program grow and flourish.

Support your children or youth minister’s through education, training, and coaching so that they can live into the call God has placed on their lives.
“Sam started officially as our youth director in July 2019. Our youth group is made up mostly of middle school boys and high school girls so it’s an interesting mix. Sam has incorporated programming so that there’s something for everyone. On Sunday afternoons we have gathering time and then split into middle school and high school so that the lessons and discussions are age-appropriate. During the week he’s implemented a mid-week meetup at local restaurants. It’s a great opportunity for him to check in with the kids in an informal setting. Sometimes it’s 6th-12th grade and sometimes it’s divided by high school and middle school. This is very popular and well attended.
Sam has been able to provide programming that appeals to all of our youth. We have seen an increased level of engagement from our youth that has brought a new sense of enthusiasm. As a church, we have been blessed to have Sam on our staff as our youth director. We look forward to his continued leadership.”

CYMT is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that equips youth ministers and communities of faith to develop innovative, effective, theologically-informed youth ministries. As a CYMT partner ministry, you partner with individual donors to allow residents to graduate debt-free, with a masters degree, and with at least 3 years of professional experience. CYMT is committed to providing training and support to all communities. We raise funds from individuals and foundations to lower the overall cost of the residency for everyone. If your ministry needs additional financial support, please let us know and we will work with you and our partners to see if we can meet your need.
