Alumni Spotlight- Jose Suarez
During my time at CYMT I learned more about who I am–what my gifts are and how to use them effectively in ministry. My gifts are compassion and helping youth be seen and heard. I also learned that my call is not about me. My call is about God and walking alongside youth as they engage with God.
The most radical thing I saw in my time with CYMT is youth rallying around each other and creating space to wrestle with God. It wasn’t always clean and tidy–it was messy. But it meant so much for these youth to have the space and the people to walk with them in their journey of faith.
God continues to humble me and remind me that my call is something to learn and grow from. Youth have much to offer, and we should always be open to the ways many youth are sparked in their faith. We can encourage those sparks toward vocations by naming and nurturing them in those moments when they share their lives with us.
